April 21st 11pm Service #17 Menai Strait

A Power boat ran out of fuel by the B6 channel buoy in the Menai Strait. The Lifeboat towed the boat in and brought the owner ashore.

April 20th 16:27 Caernarfon

The Coastguard received a report of somebody in the water near the Caernarfon changeover buoy. On arrival the lifeboat found 2 young men(early twenties)with a powerboat stranded on a sand bank. One had tried to swim ashore to get supplies but had returned to the boat safely. They were on their way to Forfa Nefyn and insisted that they were happy to stay with the boat until the tide floated them off and then complete their voyage. The lifeboat helmsman recommended that rather than travel at night they should take the boat out at Plas Menai. The boat had no anchor or VHF.

April 20th 2am Menai Strait

The Beaumaris Lifeboat was called out as two men, the same two men who were rescued in the early hours of Monday 18th April drifting in a rowing boat without oars, had again called the Coastguard to say they were drifting in a small fishing boat near Beaumaris.

The Lifeboat was launched and the crew searched the waters off Beaumaris while the Coastguard maintained a search from the land and spotted the two men watching the Lifeboat’s search from a vantage place at Mountfield. The Police were then called who dealt with the matter and the Lifeboat returned to the station.

April 18th 3am Menai Strait

A report was received shortly before 3 am of 2 men in a rowing boat adrift with no oars. The Lifeboat launched and both the men and their boat were recovered to the lifeboat station.

April 16th 16:30 Caernarfon Bar

The Beaumaris Lifeboat was called out for the second time in one day at 16.33 to respond to a 15ft fishing boat taking in water off Caernarfon Bar. The lifeboat crew assisted the RAF rescue helicopter winch the three crew off the fishing boat who were then taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd. The fishing boat sunk so the lifeboat worked with the coastguard to recover the boat and tow it into port.

April 16th 10:01 Friars bay

Yacht Ocean 326 was motoring from Bangor towards Puffin Island when their engine began to over heat. The 3 on board also reported electrical problems, they were unable to switch their engine off and called for assistance. The Coast Guard were initially unsure of the location of boat in trouble but Beaumaris Lifeboat located the boat next to Friars Bay and rendered assistance. The engine was eventually shut down and casualty towed to a mooring next to Beaumaris pier and crew brought ashore.

April 9th Gallows Point Menai Strait

A power boat with 2 persons on board had engine difficulties and contacted the Coastguard. The Lifeboat launched and towed the vessel into Dickies boat yard at Port Penrhyn.
