Service 4: 16:22 15th March North Eastern End of Menai Strait

Holyhead Coastguard initially reported a vessel low on fuel on passage from Cardigan bay to Fleetwood and as they did not have any charts of the Menai Strait they requested escort through the Swellies to Port Dinorwic where they hoped to get fuel. A short while later the vessel reported a position in Conwy Bay and the Lifeboat was launched to locate the vessel which was eventually found near to B1 at the north eastern end of the Strait.

The vessel refused the offer of fuel at Beaumaris and said that they had organised fuel at Conwy marina. As the Lifeboat left the scene the vessel started to head off down the east side of Puffin Island and were about to go over the causeway which was only just awash. The lifeboat returned and guided them safely through Puffin Sound and to Conwy fairway buoy to await the tide to get into Conwy.
