Service 14 and 15 Monday 3rd May 13:50 Puffin Island and Mussel Bank

The lifeboat was launched when a Pan Pan call was received by Holyhead Coastguard for a broken down boat at Mussel Bank on the Caernarfon bar. En route, the lifeboat was diverted to a wind surfer struggling to get back onto his board at Penmon near Puffin Island. The windsurfer was also monitered from the shore by the mobile coastguard unit on scene.

After ensuring the windsurfer was safe, the lifeboat was directed onto rescue the broken down yacht, the yacht received assistance in the meantime from a nearby craft and was then escorted from Fort Belan to Caernarfon by the Beaumaris lifeboat before returning to base, the yacht subsequently made her way onto Port Dinorwic.
